About

Began my working life as a plumbing apprentice in 1986 for Liverpool City Council where i worked my way up to plumbing foreman. I have worked for the Liverpool Ranger service and Merseytravel as well as achieving a personal ambition of gaining a pro-tennis coaching award (D.C.A.). I formed my own Construction and Maintenance company in 2003 where I employed 3 operatives, and had contracts mainly in the south-east of the country.
In 2007 at the age of 37 I decided to take myself back into Further education and embark on a Building Surveying degree course at John Moores University. I graduate in July 2011, with a first class degree (hons), and at present I am actively seeking employment.

Specialties

My people skills, my man management, and the ability to communicate at management and shop floor level, I believe to be my best attributes. This coupled with my experience and enthusiasm for the industry. Good organizational skils and the ability to get things done

Professional Project Winners 2011. Member of the winning team of the professional project competition from within the whole of the Built Environment department.

2010 – 2010 (less than a year)

I was fortunate to gain a placement at the esteemed liverpool practice of Rupert Grantley Lowe LLP for the summer of 2010 where I gained experience in a number of building related issues including Dilapidation surveys, Structural defects analysis, Building pathology, Party Wall procedures and disputes, Historical building survey/measurement, building inspections, feasibility appraisals, architectural design and cost and procurement advice.

Set up my own company in 2003 and secured a number of contracts with the Strong Group working on various construction and maintenance projects throughout the U.K.

2003 – 2004 (1 year)

Achieved my D.C.A. after 6 months rigorous training and testing in various venues across the country. Worked as a pro coach at david Lloyd tennis centre in Speke, Liverpool. I am still a member of the BTCA.


Facilities (Infastructure) Officer
Merseytravel

2000 – 2003 (3 years)

In 2000 I joined Merseytravel as a Facilities Officer, enabling me to achieve a valuable insight into the public sector transport system and traffic technology. In my role within Merseytravel I oversaw the maintenance and repair of all bus station facilities equipment, I managed a small team of maintenance operatives, undertook daily health and safety checks, risk assessments, induction training of new operatives and ensured the relevant periodic maintenance of facilities were undertaken correctly. I was responsible for the Health and Safety of all the stakeholders, and ensured all legislation was relevant and up to date.


Park Ranger
Liverpool Ranger Service

1997 – 2000 (3 years)

In 1997 I joined the Liverpool Ranger service gaining a wide spectrum of experiences including public speaking, liaising with the public in local forums, working in schools and youth clubs and exposure to a positive and versatile approach to a specialized job. Whilst in the Ranger Service I became involved with many local projects and events, which in turn gave me the opportunity to meet with local forums and partnerships.


Plumbing foreman

1986 – 1997 (11 years)

After serving a 4 year apprenticeship in plumbing I worked in the city council as a mobile plumber, and eventually Plumbing Foreman. I managed to forge strong relationships with Management, Tradesmen and Stakeholders
