Thesis Title: The reaction in British Culture to the Soviet Union from the death of Stalin until the Deposition of Khrushchev 1953-1964

About

Although I originally graduated in History I have adopted an interdisciplinary approach by taking my masters and PhD in the English department.

For my PhD I am investigating the reaction in British Culture to changes in the Soviet Regime durig the Khrushchev era; this incorporates a number of literary and media sources many of which have been ignored in the previous focus on canonical texts.  These popular texts which include mass produced fiction, newspapers and cartoons can help us to understand the inherrent mentalities of the population during this period.

I have spoken at a number of British and Worldwide Universities and hope to expand my engagement with the conferencing network as opportunities arise.

I have worked part time in the History department since 2007 and began part-time teaching in English in 2009.  In addition to this I work occasionally in the History department of Liverpool Hope University
